NDIS Information

  • Applying to join the NDIS is the first step in your journey to accessing supports. Here’s some key information to help you understand how the NDIS works.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a program that enables people living with disabilities to access support across all Australian states and territories. The NDIS provides individuals with choice and control over their supports, helping them with daily living tasks, improving their skills, and building independence.

  • Accommodation Options

    Daily Personal Activities

Getting Out and About in the Community

Transport to Community Groups and Daily Life Activities

    Employment and Workplace Assistance

    Therapeutic Supports, Including Early Intervention

    Household Tasks

    Home and Vehicle Modifications

    Mobility Equipment

The NDIS doesn’t fund general health or education services, as these are available to everyone in the community. However, they can help you access or support you while using any community services.

  • Anyone who is eligible can access the NDIS. To see if you are eligible, use the NDIS’s eligibility checklist.

  • If you’re eligible and your Access Request is approved, you’ll work with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) to create your NDIS plan.

Your NDIS plan will outline your individual goals and the funding allocated to help you achieve them. Once you have your NDIS plan, you can start finding services and supports that suit your needs. If your plan includes 'support coordination,' a Support Coordinator can assist you in making the most of your NDIS plan.

Already have your NDIS plan? Learn more about our services and supports by contacting us.

  • Everyone’s NDIS plan is unique, tailored to your specific needs. The NDIA will ask questions about your lifestyle, goals, and the kind of support you need to create a plan that suits you.

Each year, you can review your plan with the NDIA to ensure you’re receiving the right supports. If needed, you can request a review sooner.

  • Your NDIS plan will show you how much funding you have, the categories you have access to and what they’re for. We can go through your plan with you to explain your options based on your funding.

The NDIS plans have three support budgets:

    • Core Supports budget: for supports that help with everyday tasks and activities, including community participation and transport.

    • Capacity Building Supports budget: for supports that help you become more independent and build on your skills.

    • Capital Supports budget: is for one-off purchases you may need, including technology and home modifications. It also covers Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA). Capital Supports budget funds can only be used for their specific purpose.

Once you have your NDIS plan and know which supports you’re funded for, we’ll work with you to find the right services for your funding.
